It is warm today but not unbearable given the low humidity levels. That is a good thing. Friday will be the start of the heat wave which will bring near 90+ degree temperatures through the middle of next week. Heat indexes will also be very high. People working outdoors should use caution and drink plenty of fluids and of course use sun screen.
Severe weather also will return Friday evening with an increased threat for Saturday. Not expecting any widespread outbreak but isolated pop up thunderstorms could disrupt outdoor activities.
Twitter & Weather...
There are a lot of professional and hobby forecasters on twitter offering detailed play by play of the weather. This can be particularly helpful during severe weather. For me, I generally try to keep my twitter forecasts for the Kokomo and Howard County and include the surrounding counties. Some others have a much broader scope.
My best suggestion is to search for the #INwx hashtag. http://twitter.com/#search?q=%23inwx
If you follow people on twitter, besides me, try Nicole Misencik @NicoleWTHR, Paul Poteet @PaulPoteet, and Ryan Greggory @RyanGreggory who is studying meteorology at Ball State University and is on WWKI in the evenings and during severe weather.
HoosierWxAlert @HoosierWxALERT offers automated watches and warning for the state of Indiana. Sometimes it can be a bit busy but is a great way to keep informed.
There are many other fine forecasters around Indiana and if you do the first thing mentioned (#INwx) you will find them and select the ones which you enjoy the most.
