The next two snows!

Snow is coming! Yes, there will be snow and someone is going to get a lot of it.

Our first snow event is overnight tonight into Friday. Not much accumulation is expected but the coating could result in some slick roads and sidewalks. With the number of snows we have had this year, one would expect driver would slow down and drive with caution but I can say by listening to the local law enforcement online at Scan Kokomo that just isn’t the case. Just slow down and arrive safely.

The big storm which would be the biggest of the season is heading toward the Midwest and Ohio Valley. The track is still waffling back and forth and recent history dictates we cannot ignore the final track will be to our northwest. The best track shown would be over Chicago with other tracks going more NW dumping on Wisconsin (again). Madison, Wisconsin had set an all time snow record already with 79.2 inches. This next one could dump another 10 inches or more.

Our snow will be hampered by warm air on Sunday. While the forecast models cannot agree on how far the warm air surges, all agree it is as far as north central Indiana. Sunday will see rain before changing over to snow in the overnight. Most of our snow will come from the backside of the storm system which should still bring us accumulating snow accompanied with some wind. No predictions yet but models are showing 3-6 inches.

Even with the snow, there will be enough rain that flooding can become a concern again for many people who have already been flooded several times this year.

I promised you a snow map so here is the morning run of the GFS and its thinking for the storm. Enjoy it and proceed with caution. Anything can and will happen.
