A Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect from 900 PM tonight until 1200 PM Sunday and includes the cities of Lafayette, Kokomo, Frankfort, Crawfordsville, Anderson and Muncie.
Less than one quarter of an inch of icing is expected at this time. Freezing rain is expected to begin after 900 PM.
A warm front will approach Indiana tonight and push warmer and moist air across Indiana. This warm air will rise above cold air that will be in place on the ground and generate rain. In areas where the tempertaures are below freezing, this will result in freezing rain and light icing.
Light Freezing rain with this system appears to be rather certain. However, there is still some uncertainty with the amount of precipitation this system may generate. If conditions become more favorable for heavier precipitation, an ice storm warning may be needed.
Stay Alert to the latest forecasts today and be prepared for freezing rain tonight in northern part of central Indiana.
A freezing rain advisory means that periods of freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution.
