The cold polar vortex is what is supposed to drive the storm system south. However there have been some minor adjustments north with the system overnight by several models including the GFS and Euro. If the polar vortex isn't as much of an influence, we could sneak on to the northern edge of the system. We are just 125-150 miles from basically nothing like the forecast now to getting 2 to 6 inches. A sliver of hope remains...

Does The Polar Vortex Crush?

We all can dream can't we Jim...
I was thinking the same thing. Some of the newer models are showing the high being pushed back up north when the low comes. One can hope for snow!
I hope to wake up to a raging snow storm on Friday (or even Saturday) and I will just be all smiles.
Also hoping for a raging snowstorm on Friday! I remember a few years back they were predicting snow showers into early evening, and by 10pm that night there were heavy snow warnings posted for our area! Might have been the Christmas ordeal, can't remember, but they are wrong from time to time, just hoping it's this weekend!
I would love a ton of snow. Get the Deere out and blow it around a bit...the more the better!
