Winter Storm Watch Issued

The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch for all of the coverage area. The WSW will likely morph into a Winter Storm Warning for us tomorrow sometime. The time-line from the National Weather Services shows shows snow beginning after midnight Tuesday morning. Snow looks to be pretty heavy for most of the event. Taking the hourly forecast verbatim shows 7.9 inches of snow.

This event has a northern stream clipper phasing into a southern stream which will be pulling a lot of gulf moisture plus cold temperatures should produce a significant accumulating snow.

The closed 500 mb low overhead will also support this system cranking as it passes overhead.

Surface level winds will cause considerable blowing and drifting. (The snow currently on the ground will add to the problem.)

No first call from me but I think you can get the picture that this should be our best snow system of the year!
